The solar eclipse will darken the skies on Monday, August 21st. You can catch updates on the solar eclipse with 40/29 News, updates will be aired on The Arkansas CW between 9AM and 2PM.
The eclipse will peak in our area just after 1PM. Here is a list of peak times and eclipse percentages in our area.
If you are planning on watching the solar eclipse make sure you have the proper eye protection. Looking at the sun, even when it is partially covered by the moon, can cause serious eye damage or blindness. Regular sunglasses will not protect your eyes, you will need to purchase eclipse viewing glasses. When purchasing these glasses make sure they meet the current international standard : ISO 12312-2.
If you are unable to find these glasses don't worry, there is still a way for you to enjoy the eclipse. Click here for a step by step tutorial from The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory on how to make a pinhole camera.
